Backyard Rink!

Jonathan and I have been struggling to get the rink going. We were finally able to give it a go.
It's not smooth but the boys had fun. Even Seth gave it a go with his pusher.

Micah was happy to get out the pucks.

We ended the day with a bit of fort-building. It's a favourite.

Saucony Arrival

The boys were just as excited as I was to receive my first Saucony shipment. Good thing they each had a pair to try on!

January 9. My Birthday. A Great Day!

January 9th was my 33rd birthday, and it was a great day.

It started off with a cold but enjoyable 30 km run with the Runner's Den in Paris. While running, I heard more about my friend's new baby, interesting gifts received and given to spouses at Christmas, and was able to tell my running buddies about the good news re: Saucony Sponsorship for 2010.
I came home to a hot shower, my pancake and coffee breakfast, and 3 wonderful men: Jonathan, Micah and Seth.
I worked in the afternoon, helping a few children with feeding difficulties, and enjoyed having a nutrition student with me.

Then I came home to 3 men working hard at making a delicious dinner for me: cedar-plank salmon (my favourite), green bean casserole, stir-fried peppers and shallots, and mashed potatoes.

The Dureno clan came for cake, which was fun for the kids (and adults).

Then after bathing the boys, Jonathan and I headed outside to work on the back-yard rink.
Can anyone top that day?

Christmas 2009

Once again, we had a wonderful Christmas Season this year as we celebrated Jesus’ birth. Jonathan and I decided to stay in Brantford for “our own” Christmas morning, which was new and wonderful. We attended the Christmas Eve service at BCC, bathed the boys after some hot chocolate, and put out the stockings with milk and cookies for Santa. After Jonathan flooded our backyard rink we worked as little elves and packed the vans before heading to bed ourselves.
Christmas morning, the boys enjoyed opening their stockings in Seth’s room, seeing the empty milk mug and cookie crumbs, and opening their own gifts. A breakfast of waffles (with my new waffle-maker, thanks Aimee), fruit, milk, and coffee was enjoyed before getting ready and heading out the door to Chatham. We drove separately so that Jonathan could return later to refinish our hardwood floor (looks great!). Once we got to Chatham, we had a good few hours together with the DuChene gang. Later in the week, we enjoyed some great skating together too. Colton and Micah were skating well on their own, freely giving their pushers to their Cayman Island cousins to use.
On the 26th, we had our traditional Boxing Day Christmas with the Perry gang (Krista’s mom’s side of the family), which is one of my favourite days of the year. A happy birthday cake to Jesus, wrestling, playing with lots of space, 2 meals, and visiting made for another great day.
Then, Seth, Micah and I headed to Aunt Joyce and Uncle Glen’s. We got to see the Cylka gang before they headed back to Toronto. A toboggan ride, country runs, delicious meals, quality time reading and playing games together, and more visiting was again, great.
What an amazing week. Thank you, everyone.
