Less grass to cut!

Well....after nearly 5 years at this house, our faithful lawnmower finally had more than it could handle. So, we got a shiny new mower to handle the job, but thought, how can we ease the load this new mower has. Well, we have been 'encouraged' by some to plant a garden, so we thought...garden = less grass (and tasty fresh veggies). Thus, a garden lives here now.

The whole family was there but we weren't all working.

The watering department is more than ready to go!
Trying our hand with the power-tools.
So, this is what seeds look like.
This roto-tiller is no problem, my only issue is that these gloves don't fit!

Deck is completed (picture it with a gate !!!)

Reverend Cylka poses for a quick pic. before he had to head back to Toronto to get his sermon polished up for Sunday am. He had to check-out before seeing his handi-work fully completed!
We thought a little bench would really help to seat everyone when it came time to sit and eat.
Back-yard (avec nouveau) deck picture a functioning gate!
....and another one.
....or two

May Weekends - Part II

Jonathan and Steve planned this weekend to get together to build a deck at the cabin. With 5 kids + 4 adults, we'll love the extra space. Here's the "before" picture.

Micah was thrilled to see his Uncle Steve.

Here's a "During" picture. Stay posted for the "After" picture.

Brothers - 2 year old Micah and (almost) 2 month old Seth.

Weekends in May - part I

On the way to the cabin, Jonathan really got Micah laughing.
Here are the kids enjoying a campfire.

Seth having a stretch.
Seth and his big cousin, Aidan, in green and blue. The two are 2.5 months apart.

Spring Trip East part II

Ben had a great time driving the younger boys around in the gator.
It was so great to be outside. The kids loved running.
Micah was thrilled to see Ben's school bus.
We'll have to watch these two this summer - trouble?!
Mary was very interested in baby Seth.

Another Spring Trip - East

On our way to the Cylka's, Micah, Seth and I stopped to see Uncle Kevin and Uncle Lloyd.
We enjoyed a nice walk
and were treated to Starbuck's. Thanks, Uncles!

Once we got to Picton, I parked our DuChene van by the Cylka van.

One of the first things we did was watch the big boys on the gator.

A Smiling Seth

Seth started smiling a bit ago but we didn't get it on camera until now.
Today he is 6 weeks old.
He's really starting to look at objects and people.

Back in Brantford

While we were away, Jonathan worked hard at finishing the basement. Here's the fireplace.
Back at home with the boys.
Seth at 5 weeks. We love our boys.

Spring Tour 2008 (part 3/3)

Enjoying a four-wheeler ride with Uncle Glen. This is a favourite for Ben who missed out this year.
Seth and Uncle Glen.
Micah sure loves "Nita".

Spring Tour 2008 (part 2/3)

Again this year we had a farm tour. It wasn't a Lehrbass farm but that of Mr. and Mrs. Annett's.
You name it, we saw it - ponies, sheep, goats, horses, ducks, geese,
donkeys,
cows,
peacocks, and much more. Seth enjoyed time in the house with Mrs. Annett

Spring Tour 2008 (part 1/3)

Micah, Seth and I travelled to Aunt Joyce and Uncle Glen's for our annual spring tour. It just wasn't the same without the Cylka family but we still had a great time. Here's Uncle Glen with Micah. The two of them have a great time together.
Jen was great to snuggle with Seth and entertain Micah.
Micah helped Aunt Joyce get the mail.
Micah was thrilled to see Anita get off the bus.
We were glad to see MJ, Lauren and Allen.
