December 2014 Team DuChene

Team DuChene had a challenging and rewarding 2014. We continue to be blessed in so many ways and look forward to what God has planned for our future. All the best to everyone in 2015. Should be another exciting year for us!

Krista successfully returned to racing after fracturing her femur in April. She completed three races to finish 2014 (1 in Nov & 2 in Dec). Photo Credit: Bob Baldwin, Tannenbaum 10 km. Toronto. Her plan is to go after that Olympic standard in a 2015 spring marathon.

On CHRISTmas day, Jonathan and Krista gave the kids shoeboxes, filled with various Disney/warm weather/travel items. They didn't quite get our surprise gift but will be excited a bit closer to the time we actually go!

Christmas t-shirts with their sports teams: 99'ers hockey, Ice Kittens hockey, and Brantford Aquatic Club swimming. #activekids #TeamDuChene

While we were in the area, we stopped by Krista's cousin Roxanne's Barn79 to get a few things for our home. She builds/refinishes various items. Krista used her Christmas gift money from Jonathan's dad to get this bench...

...and this cabinet is a Christmas/birthday gift for Jonathan and Krista.

These two ladies certainly enjoyed playing together over the holidays. Was so nice to see Franz, Aimee, Aidan, and Genevieve.

Daddy painting Leah's nails,

teaching her how to crack an egg, and

relax while listening to some tunes.

August & September 2014

Back to School - Another Year!

(for update on Krista's comeback/running, click here)
Jonathan and I continue to be busy with work, training and commitments at our Brant Community Church. We are nearing the end of the young-kids-at-home stage and approaching the busy extra-curricular taxi years. So blessed though.

Krista and Leah with McKayla and Tarah Korir at the September Harvest Half  to raise funds for the Kenyan Kids Foundation.
I spoke at the sold-out pasta dinner and we donated our Chariot double running stroller for auction, which contributed to $10,000 raised that weekend! Kinda sad to be through this stage of life but happy to see a young running couple purchase it to use with their little one.
Seth, gr 1 was instructed to draw a picture of someone helping another. This is Coach Rick helping Krista. So sweet.

Like her mom - sporty and pink-loving!

Seth has started taking piano lessons at school. He loves it! He will resume swimming lessons in early October.

Micah, gr 3 is back it again. Hockey 4x/wk is good for this energetic boy. He's also doing x country running with Coach Krista DuChene helping the team!
Both Jonathan and Krista were born in '77.

Last year at home before school. Going to cherish every day. Krista will take her to the skate at the Gretzky, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Train ride to grandma and grandpa's, Labour Day weekend. Jonathan joined us after work.

Hockey. Team DuChene.

What a great summer. Loved every bit of it.

A little treat out at the Brown Dog.

Another work of art from Seth. He knows how Bethany Hamilton's comeback (surfer who lost her arm to a shark) inspired me so he drew a picture.

Krista was awarded, "Brant Sportsperson of the Year".

Another Olympic birthday. Micah turns 8.

Go, Canada!

Leah and Siena celebrate their 3rd birthdays with a tea party.

Seth turns 6. I think he liked the cake!

Happy birthday to Jonathan, from New York City where Krista races the 1/2 marathon.

Easter Sunday.

Jonathan comes to Montreal to help Krista recover from her surgery for a fractured femur.

Sweet, sweet kids.

Family trip to Ottawa Race Weekend. Boys ran the 5 km race. Krista commentated 10 km and marathon races.

Finally made it to Great Wolf Lodge. What fun!

Love, love, love being at the cabin.

Fun with cousins at cabin.

Date night to Tanya and Trevor's wedding.
